Professional Concert Violinist | Violin Teacher Singapore


Andrea Lin is a professional violinist from Singapore who performs and teaches violin privately.

Andrea has been appointed roles of Concertmaster, Assistant Concertmaster and Principal 2nd Violin at Asia Virtuosi, BASE Philharmonic, Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, New Opera Singapore, Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra, Singapore Lyric Opera Chamber Orchestra, Wayfarer Sinfonietta and The Philharmonic Orchestra since 2017. She is a founding violinist in their inaugural concerts with the Asia Virtuosi, Metropolitan Festival Orchestra and Resound Chamber Orchestra.

Performing professionally for 13 years since 2013, she has experiences from the pit, recording studios to onstage in Ballets, Film, Game/ Anime, Operas, Pop/ Rock, Classical Symphonic works to Musicals - Les Misérables Arena Spectacular World Tour and Miss Saigon International Tour, in the Singapore leg of the tours.

Awarded Full Scholarship from the National Arts Council Singapore and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Andrea studied 7 years at the YST Conservatory in both the Young Artist Programme and Bachelor of Music Degree (Honours) in Violin Performance and graduated with BMus (Honours) in Violin Performance in 2014. She was on the Dean's List with High honours (full GPA score of CAP 4.0) during her sophomore study in Fall 2021 at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

She is grateful to her mentors for their guidance during her studies at both Conservatories - Professors Zuo Jun, Violaine Melaçon, Maria Lambros, Hajime Teri Murai, Jason Lai, T'ang Quartet and earlier years, Mr K.Tan and Mr Chua Lik Wuk.

In her earlier years of musicking, she was a 1st violinist of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra and Braddell Heights Sinfonietta. Andrea later enjoys sharing music through her violin playing at Nursing homes from 2008 to 2020 (pre-pandemic before visiting restrictions were implemented) and charity fund-raising concerts for the Very Special Arts (Singapore) in 2010 and 2012, which she hopes these in turn inspire and encourage others to do volunteering and community service.


Teaching/ Ensemble Mentoring Experiences

Andrea was invited to Guest perform along-side/ mentoring in Orchestral concerts at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music of NUS and the NAFA of UAS since 2018. She was appointed MFO Orchestra Mentor to coach young violinists for the Sing50 concert in 2015 and also played alongside in the SNYO Conducting Seminar in 2023 by Maestro Peter Stark.

Andrea has given Violin Sectionals and Ensemble Technical Workshops for String Ensembles of Methodist Girls School (Secondary), Anglo-Chinese (Independent) IB Orchestra and St. Margaret’s Secondary School in the years of 2017 to 2020. She was formerly the Conductor of Nanyang Primary School’s Junior String Ensemble and Sectional Instructor for the Senior Ensemble for 5 years (2017 - 2021) where they have achieved Distinctions at the SYF Arts Presentations. She has coached string ensembles for 10 years since 2016. 

Violin Teacher, Private Violin Lessons in Singapore -

Andrea Lin teaches the violin at her private violin studio in Serangoon, Singapore since 2014. With 30 years of playing the violin, Andrea is happy to share her professional experiences and knowledge through teaching.

Her private violin students were awarded Top prizes (1st to 3rd Prizes) at International Competitions, more notably at the American Protégé International Competition 2019 to 2025 - Junior to Intermediate age categories leading to performances at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York, USA, as well as having achieved a total of 19 Distinctions at the ABRSM Examinations in both Practical - Live Exams and Performance Exams across all grades from Grade 2 - Grade 8. Her students have also served Leadership roles in String Ensembles and had audition successes in DSA-Sec and DSA-JC, Music Programmes and String Ensembles.
