Professional Concert Violinist | Violin Studio in Singapore


Andrea Lin has been performing professionally for 12 years with professional orchestras since 2013. 

She has led as Concertmaster, Assistant Concertmaster and Principal 2nd Violin (Leadership roles) in Symphonic, Ballets, Film, Opera, Game with various professional orchestras since 2017. 

Andrea have performed since their inaugural concerts with Asia Virtuosi since 2017, Metropolitan Festival Orchestra since 2013 and re:Sound Chamber Orchestra since 2016.

She has held leadership roles at New Opera Singapore, Singapore Lyric Opera Orchestra & SLO Chamber Orchestra, Wayfarer Sinfonietta, The Philharmonic Orchestra, BASE Entertainment Asia and UnUsUaL Limited productions as well.

As for Musical Theatre, Andrea has performed in 15 scheduled shows as Violin Dep for the touring musicians to Singapore in the Singapore leg of  'Miss Saigon International Tour' at the Marina Bay Sands Theatre (2024). (The musical made its comeback to Singapore 23 years later!)

Besides performing regularly in professional orchestras, she was invited to contribute in academia. Since 2018, Andrea was invited as Guest performer along-side/ Mentoring in Orchestral concerts with Institutions; Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music of (NUS) and the University of the Arts (UAS) - NAFA. She has also played in the Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO) Conducting Seminar in 2023 by Maestro Peter Stark. She was appointed MFO Orchestra Mentor to coach young violinists for the Sing50 concert in 2015.

Andrea graduated from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singaoire where she studied 7 years (Young Artist and Bachelor's Degree with Honours in Violin Performance) under full scholarship awarded from the National Arts Council Singapore - Yong Siew Toh Conservatory, under the tutelage of Prof Zuo Jun (Head of Violin Studies) for her major studies. 

She was placed on the Dean's List with High Honours, having scored Full GPA Score of CAP 4.0 during her 2nd Year of study with Prof Violaine Melaçon at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, USA in the year of 2011.

Her Chamber Music and Orchestra Studies with faculties of both Conservatories in Singapore and the USA include the T'ang Quartet, Professors Maria Lambros, Maestri Hajime Teri Murai and Jason Lai, along with many distinguished esteemed guest professors.

Andrea has been playing the violin for 29 years since a young child.


Violin Teaching -

Besides performing, Andrea is committed to nurturing the next generation of violinists since 2014. She teaches the violin only at her private studio in Serangoon. 11 years and on, Andrea meticulously teaches Beginners to Diploma Violin Lessons at her violin studio. 

Her violin students have achieved 1st Prizes in the American Protégé International Competition 2019 and performed in the Prize Winners’ Recital at Carnegie Hall in New York, USA, Singapore ‘Golden Lion Awards’ International Youth Music Arts Competition 2019 amongst many others, as well as 18 Distinctions at ABRSM Examinations (both Practical and Performance Exams) since 2018 from Grade 2 to Grade 8. 

The most recent win was her 11 year-old student being awarded the 2nd Prize and the only Violin Winner at the American Protégé International Music Competition of Romantic Music 2025 in the age category 11 - 14 years old.

Andrea's students have led their schools’ CCA string ensembles for SYF Arts Presentations and achieved Distinctions. Her private studio students’ trio, C.E.J. Trio was accepted into the Chamber Music Academy programme of the inaugural Singapore Chamber Music Festival 2024. 

Andrea has also given Violin Sectionals and Ensemble Technical Workshops for String Ensembles of Methodist Girls School (Secondary), Anglo-Chinese (Independent) IB Orchestra and St. Margaret’s Secondary School from 2017 to 2020. She was formerly the Conductor of Nanyang Primary School’s Junior String Ensemble and Sectional Instructor for the Senior Ensemble for 5 years where they have achieved Distinctions at the SYF Arts Presentations. 

In her childhood violin journey, she played as 1st violinist of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra (SNYO). Her first CD recording experience in the recording studios was with the Braddell Heights Sinfonietta, playing chamber music in 2006. She was a former student of Mr Chua Lik Wuk and Mr K Tan. 

Andrea was a volunteer where she visited hospitals and homes with her violin since 2008 to 2020 (pre-pandemic before visiting restrictions were implemented), bringing joy through music to patients. She has also performed with her YST schoolmates at charity fund-raising concerts for the Very Special Arts (Singapore) in 2010 and 2012.

Andrea continues to perform today and shares her knowledge through teaching at her private violin studio, Andrea Lin Violin Studio in Serangoon, Singapore.
